We needed to book a holiday rental for a specific and short period of time-ideally as close to the end of Cornwall as you could go! Crugkern Barn was the perfect solution. Rick and Chris greeted us very warmly and were excellent hosts. They had taken advice and had changed the way in which they operated due to required social distancing. Everything you could possibly need for such a short break was there-often cleverly hidden. The Barn has been beautifully decorated both inside and outside and kept up to date-we appreciated the new shower! Walks were indicated on a local laminated map and, together with our iWalk Cornwall app, we walked several miles each day in spite of the weather! It is an ideal retreat and would love to visit again!

This accommodation is truly a home from home. From the moment we arrived the hosts Rick & Chris were attentive and readily on hand to assist where required. The location was ideal for touring around the peninsular so we were able to visit all the haunts from our youth. We managed to squeeze our holiday in, the week before the second lockdown and consider ourselves very fortunate to have spent it at this stunning property. We cannot recommend it highly enough, a beautiful get away location. Thank you. p.s we will be back.

This holiday was perfect from start to finish. Superb location, 5 star accommodation and Chris and Rick, the owners, could not be more helpful. They really have thought of everything to make your stay there a fabulous experience and every aspect of the accommodation is of the highest quality. Can’t wait to go back. Thanks again Rick and Chris

Crugkern Barn is a little gem located just outside St Just in West Cornwall. The perfect location to explore an area of outstanding natural beauty. Made all the more special by our hosts, Chris and Rick. So much care and thought has been put into ensuring guests have everything they could possibly need during their stay. From flowers, warm bread and Cornish Yarg on arrival, gorgeous toiletries in the bathroom to a backpack containing rug, flask, OS map and sun cream, everything is thought of! A very tastefully furnished cottage with all the home comforts you could wish for. Chris and Rick were always happy to share tips of where to go and help us discover some amazing places – many of which were new to us and helped us to see some stunning and very memorable scenery. We were blessed with wonderful weather and able to eat alfresco in the barn’s gardens most of the time. A huge thank you to Chris and Rick for sharing your little peace of paradise in West Cornwall and for your generosity and warmth. Look forward to returning soon.

If you are looking for a peaceful, authentic Cornish experience in the countryside, you’ve picked the right spot. The location is set in the countryside, next to the spring fed creek that runs behind the property. There were plenty of bird feeders so lots of birds outside the window set in a beautiful garden. Rick and Chris were very nice people who put a lot of thought into our experience. There was fresh baked bread, Cornish Yarg cheese, milk, butter, coffee, etc. waiting for us. They were very meticulous about the everything we might need during our stay. The kitchen is fully stocked if you want to cook a meal. The property was very clean and kept up. they are located minutes from St. Just, which itself, is an authentic Cornish village, not overrun with tourists. There were several great places to eat in town. You can either walk in or drive. It was heaven on earth. I highly recommend the Crughern Barn
(from our first American visitors :))

Well where to start. We had a lovely week in a perfectly formed cottage. As advertised the cottage is one bed/living/kitchen room but it has been furnished to the highest standard and certainly has plenty of space for a couple. Chris’ silk paintings on the wall are beautiful. The cottage is spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Everything that you could possible want is there, often ingeniously stored. Rick and Chris are perfect hosts, very interesting to talk to and full of local knowledge. We loved the gardens and spotting birds. There are plenty of walks from the cottage and St Just with it’s shops and pubs is only 5mins drive. Just perfect.

Fabulous accommodation and a warm welcome awaits you, complete with freshly baked bread and Cornish Yarg. Hosts Rick and Chris really have thought of everything! The garden is a beautiful place to sit and listen to the birds. From inside the barn you can watch the rabbits hop by and indulge in a spot of bird watching with the binoculars and guides so thoughtfully provided. The barn is so wonderful that you may need to remind yourself to venture further afield to visit the surrounding area. Must visits include the Minnack theatre, Sennor Cove, the coastal path walks to name but a few!
